ASCCA staff visits Uzbekistan

On October 23-24, "Customs Research-2025: Prospects of Customs Authorities against the Background of Digitalization and the Application of Artificial Intelligence", an international scientific-practical conference was held at the Customs Institute of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The conference was co-organized by the Academy of the State Customs Committee in cooperation with the Customs Institute of Uzbekistan . The representatives of customs authorities of a number of countries, OSCE, GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation), BOMCA (Border Management Program in Central Asia), UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), as well as the head of the Academy, major general in customs service Gulu Novruzov, and the head of the department of "Customs work and Management", Ph.D. in Economics Elvin Alirzayev took part in the conference.

The opening of the conference was addressed by the First Deputy of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Head of the Customs Institute. Then representatives of international organizations made speeches.

Making a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, the head of the Academy, Major General of the Customs Service Gulu Novruzov noted that cooperation between the two higher educational institutions would continue to be developed in the future and wished success to the work of the conference, which is a vivid example of cooperation.

At the plenary session, the head of the department, Elvin Alirzayev, made a speech on the topic “Customs Policy and Transport: The Example of Azerbaijan”.

Then, the conference continued its work with online and in-person presentations.

Finally, the participants and the presenters were awarded certificates.

It should be noted that the Protocol on Mutual Cooperation was signed between the Academy of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic and the Customs Institute of Uzbekistan in 2023. During the visit, the Action Plan for 2026-2030 was approved between the Academy of the State Customs Committee and the Customs Institute of Uzbekistan. The plan includes the implementation of online and face-to-face lectures, joint research, and joint scientific events.

The delegation of the academy visited Heydar Aliyev Square in the center of the Mirabad district of Tashkent, which was inaugurated by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev in 2022, and laid flowers in front of the bas-relief of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Later , the delegation together with the leadership of the Uzbekistan Customs Institute, visited the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijani Cultural Center operating under the Azerbaijani

Embassy in Uzbekistan. The customs officers who were at the Cultural Center got acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Museum, the Museum of History and Statehood of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Friendship Museum, the Museum of Azerbaijani Carpets and the exhibition hall, the library, courses and activities of the associations.
